We’ve been harvesting fallen eucalypts (Vic ash and/or Messmate) for the past three years in the Western District. Normally, as these old trees come down in strong winds it signifies the end of their existence. A farmer’s burden, they lay across damaged fencing or strewn throughout a field, unsightly and in the way. Firewood is often their final hurrah, either right there where they fell or more usefully for farm house heating. We think there is a tiny environmental contribution to be made by rescuing what we can and finding a way to prolong its existence. So for me, it’s all about the furniture!
